Ashworth Craftsman

It was a joy to collaborate with these homeowners to redesign their kitchen to make it work so much better for their active family. Arriving at the perfect kitchen plan meant addressing design changes at adjacent rooms, too. We redirected the stairs leading to the backyard garden and created a relite (interior window) at the peninsula that overlooks the staircase to the exterior view. We also widened the doorway to the dining room, shifted the dining table to one side of the room with built-in seating, and added a sideboard with much-needed storage and serving capability – not to mention a wall-space for art! A newly added coffered ceiling with improved lighting continues the Craftsman aesthetic while blurring the center-line of the room. Connection between dining and kitchen is so much better! And it’s super easy to navigate through the home without the dining table blocking the way. They are lovers of the true Craftsman style — he’s done much of the woodwork you see in the photos! — and it was an inspiration to tap into their enthusiasm for this detailed work.
